To reduce stress on feet and legs, it is recommended that runners replace their running shoes every 350 to 550 miles. So what happens to all those shoes? If you’re like me, you have a whole stockpile of “broken down” but not yet warn out shoes.
Nike-Reuse-A-Shoe program has an answer! Since the program’s start, Nike has collected 24 million pair of shoes to recycle. Nike offers the only known program that accepts both used and totally warn out shoes. What might otherwise go to our landfills, becomes Nike Grind material. Nike and Nike Partners then use this material for track surfaces, interlocking gym flooring tiles, playground surfaces, specific new Nike products, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and cushioning pads for indoor synthetic courts and wood floor courts.
The collection location nearest the Georgetown Divide is the Nike Factory Store in Folsom. Or … you can drop off your donations during business hours at Premier Foothill Properties, and ask for Deb! They’ll be delivered to Nike each month. Please limit donations to the following:
athletic shoes and Livestrong wristbands ONLY (no other donations will be accepted)
no metal parts – must be clean and dry – no cleats – no dress shoes, sandals or flip flops, or wrist bands from other brands
