Three major horseback riding, running & cycling events scheduled for March

The weekend of March 9th – 10th – 11th offers particularly special events for all 3 trail users.  American Endurance Ride Conference will celebrate 40 years at the AERC convention in Reno.  Even if you are not an endurance horseback rider, this event provides particularly informative educational opportunities along with an exceptional trade show and tack swap.  Veteran Riders will host a panel discussion, and a variety of speakers will lead dialogues on the following subjects:  On-Trail Emergencies, Heart Rates and Horses, Nutrition Concerns of the Endurance Horse, Dehydration Do’s & Don’ts and a Historical Overview of Endurance Riding.  It was during a panel discussion years ago, I first heard of glucosamine.

The 15th Annual Way Too Cool 50K Run takes place on March 10th and the Cool Mountain Bike Race completes the 3-day event on March 11th.  Clif Bar will present the Run and Auburn Bike Works is hosting the mountain Bike Race.  Both events are held at the Olmstead Loop.  The Run extends into the Canyon where competitors will be running on trail well into the afternoon.
