Heavy rains earlier in the year continue to reveal a bounty of flowers and available water sources along the Pacific Crest Trail, Carson Pass to Showers Lake. This section of the Trail, at roughly 8500 feet elevation, offers breathtaking views of snow on distant mountaintops, a variety of flowers, small lakes, Upper Truckee River crossings and spring crossings, and an escape from the heat. The Pacific Crest Trail intersects with Tahoe Rim Trail near the half-way mark, providing additional options and lakeside destinations. Hikers and equestrians primarily share this trail segment.
